Does anyone know how to install on Ubuntu? I have tried commercial and non-commercial cds, iso's etc. I am having no luck whatsoever. I have 6.10 Edgy on amd64. When I execute installUnix I get the error:
exec: 42: ./vw7.5nc/bin/linux86/visual: not found The file is there, it has execute permissions. Mike

Didn't know there was a vw7.5. Don't you mean vw7.4.1?

Hmm, I've had no problems installing it by mounting disk
images under either a real 64-bit Ubuntu or a vmware 32-bit. I'm
suspicious that either "." isn't in the right place (how are
you launching the script?) or, perhaps more likely, that I've heard some
talk of security schemes that don't, by default, let you run things from
the CD. In the latter case, copying the entire CD contents to the hard
drive would presumably then let the installer run. Or even just copying
the installer and VM, and then pointing it at the install.map file on the
CD.

I had a similar problem (but the error was 'bad interpreter'); the solution was to make sure the cdrom was mounted exec, instead of noexec. Does running mount -o remount, exec /dev/cdrom (or mount -o exec /dev/cdrom if it's not already mounted) help? |
