VW 7.7.1 still does not run on OS X 64-bit kernel mode (?)

T. Edwin King
Just got around to downloading and installing VW 7.7.1 .
Apparently it still suffers the same problem with OS X 64-bit kernel mode as 7.7.

Was this supposed to be resolved with 7.7.1 or is there a patch available that resolves this issue?

Regards,
Todd Edwin King

Yes, unfortunately the problem there is that the Mac VM uses two threads and a pipe to communicate between them, and right now we cannot find a way to do the required pipe operations in Snow Leopard in 64-bit kernel mode. We are looking at changing the VM not to use a pipe, which would work around the problem (at least until you needed to do those pipe operations for some other reason) but that is not in 7.7.1.

Re: VW 7.7.1 still does not run on OS X 64-bit kernel mode (?)

Hi Allen,

Thanks for the reply.  I am still perplexed by the fact that I can
still run 7.6 just fine in 64-bit kernel, as well as the X11 vm in 7.7
and 7.7.1.  So can't you just go back to what you were doing in 7.6?
<only-part-way-joking/>

I currently just run VW on a Parallels Windows 7 VM, since I'm not
likely to boot OS X in 32-bit mode just for VW.  But it would be nice
to work directly in OS X without the extra inefficient layer.
