VW CEARM VM with Windows Mobile 6.1

Hello,
I'm trying to use the VisualWorks 7.5 CE (ARM) VM with a base image. The image has the CE parcel and a simple test app loaded.
The host environment is Windows Mobile 6.1.4 Professional ran under the Device Emulator provided by Microsoft.
However, the VM executable crashes at launch with the following output on the debug console:

CertVerify: \Storage Card\bin\cearm\visual.exe trust = 2
Undefined Instruction: Thread=83ba62c8 Proc=80096ec0 'visual.exe'
AKY=00001001 PC=000329a4(visual.exe+0x000229a4) RA=00027278(visual.exe+0x00017278) BVA=043a18ec FSR=00000405

According to visual.map, the VW VM hangs when armCacheDescription is called.

I've tried several different images as well as the VM provided on Georg Heeg's website (http://www.heeg.de/community/updates/VisualWorks_VM.html), with the same results.

Has anyone had more success running a VisualWorks VM with Windows Mobile?

Antoine,

 

The Windows Ce/Mobile platform is no longer supported. I am not aware that there were any tests performed on recent Windows Ce versions. Speaking from past experience, I know that unlike other operating system, every Windows Ce version, every processor variant, and every device are different and needs adaptation. Mostly ARM processors were supported, but some emulators use the processor architecture of the platform they are running on.

 

Please contact Cincom Star team or your Cincom Smalltalk sales representative for a custom adaptation to you project needs.
