We have a client on our backs because they want to get new machines
with Vista. -- Dennis Smith +1 416.798.7948 Cherniak Software Development Corporation Fax: +1 416.798.0948 509-2001 Sheppard Avenue East [hidden email] Toronto, ON M2J 4Z8 sip:[hidden email] Canada http://www.CherniakSoftware.com Entrance off Yorkland Blvd south of Sheppard Ave east of the DVP |
I suggest you give it a whirl yourself without waiting for official
support. We'd done one quick and dirty run-through of our application on Vista a while back and it seemed to work just fine. I suspect we would do the same but with a little more time spent if we really needed to deploy on Vista. We tested our application - all of the things I have time to
test, worked. Most of my win32 calls also worked, however when I did develop them I made sure they are supported in the vista. The word of advise - we use few third party libs/ drivers, so if you use any of the third party dlls(and we had to get latest driver from one vendor), You would have to make sure that those also work on Vista. --MArk Dennis Smith wrote: > We have a client on our backs because they want to get new machines > with Vista. > |

We've done some limited testing on Vista, and haven't seen any
problems. That doesn't mean we offer full support for Vista yet; we will be supporting Vista following this release At 12:09 PM 4/5/2007, you wrote: >We have a client on our backs because they want to get new machines >with Vista. > >-- >Dennis Smith +1 416.798.7948 >Cherniak Software Development Corporation Fax: +1 416.798.0948 >509-2001 Sheppard Avenue East [hidden email] >Toronto, ON M2J 4Z8 sip:[hidden email] >Canada http://www.CherniakSoftware.com >Entrance off Yorkland Blvd south of Sheppard Ave east of the DVP <Talk Small and Carry a Big Class Library> James Robertson, Product Manager, Cincom Smalltalk http://www.cincomsmalltalk.com/blog/blogView |

And what are you saying about it?? Use it? Run Vista and XP so you can
switch?? Very interesting this came up. About 5min ago I got a request for Gemstone server on VMware, not something we have worked with at all -- any comments on VMware?? We've recently switched to VMWare-hosted VMs exclusively on all servers
with the exception of SQL Server, which still runs and will continue to run on dedicated hardware. Loving it so far. Most testing and fooling around is also done in VMs now either by creating new ones on the ESX server or just running them inside the Workstation, Cheers! -Boris -- +1.604.689.0322 DeepCove Labs Ltd. 4th floor 595 Howe Street Vancouver, Canada V6C 2T5 http://tinyurl.com/r7uw4 [hidden email] CONFIDENTIALITY NOTICE This email is intended only for the persons named in the message header. and that actually reminds me that I'm contemplating moving to Win 64 in
order to support some of my music endeavors but I was wondering whether I would be able to run VW there well enough -Charles On Thu, 05 Apr 2007 12:34:25 -0400, James Robertson <[hidden email]> wrote: > We've done some limited testing on Vista, and haven't seen any > problems.
