Ok.. I bought a slick (and expensive) programming font and have
been using it at work and find it very pleasing to the eyes.. So, I figured I'd try to use it on my Mac (using OSX).. So, I load it up (it's a TTF font) and can see/use it just fine in the Terminal.app.. However, I re-did my "fixed" font in VW to use the new font and after applying the update and changing the settings, I find that VW hangs after a few seconds -- it updated a couple of windows but not all. It finally came up indicating it ran out of memory and then died.. Is there some sort of issue w/ some fonts not being usable? Just thought I'd ask. I'm sure I could probably re-produce the issue if needed. -- Rick |
Can you send me the font. I am currently working a related font issue
and while I am at it I will try to fix this one as well. I don't even need my new font to mess things up. Below are the steps to use on a vanilla 7.5 installation: 1) Bring up the visualnc image 2) bring up the painter (Painter->new canvas) 3) under the "edit" menu, select "Named Fonts->Define Named Fonts" 4) select "fixed" in the left pane 5) on the right pane, select "Geneva", then hit "Assign to named font", followed by "close" 6) In the System Settings window, select "Tools" and change the "text-size" to "fixed" and hit apply Boom.. You should have an endlessly GC'ing VM.. Note that I did this on a Powermac G4 (1.67Ghz) if that matters. I can do this on a fully populated VM as well but will almost always get a core dump after a while -- doing it on the vanilla image seems to take a much longer time... |

Does this font is "system native" in Mac OS or does it come with some specific application? -- Cesar Rabak GNU/Linux User 52247. Get counted: http://counter.li.org/ |
