View Composer and ShellView extent

ShellViews that I create in the view composer dont seem to get the right
extent. For example

In the View Composer create a new shell view.
drag-resize the shell until the extent is 200 @ 200.
press F5 , the window opens with an extent of 1066 @ 800 instead of 200 @ 200

What am I missing?

I am using dpro 4.01.3.

I _think_ the answer is to give the shell a #preferredExtent and set
#usePreferredExtent to true.
