Was hoping to see what I might hook-up between VW and Salesforce, but can't download new VWNC image...

Assuming some of my problems connecting 7.6 to my old Store database may
be because of "issues" with an older 7.6 and a new libmysql, I thought
I'd try updating my VW.  Except the download still isn't available and
my window for playing with it is closing later today.  Perhaps it'll
open up again in mid-summer.

Yes, that sounds like a likely reason. If the image on your Linux box sees it without a problem, you could load up StoreForGlorpReplicationUI and replicate it into a Postgresql database using the Linux box. Or you could just load it into the image on your Linux box, move the image, and not connect it to Store, in which case the library presumably wouldn't be a problem.
