Webring

Ian Bartholomew-5
I was wondering if there would be any value in having a DolphinSmalltalk
webring linking sites aimed specifically at Dolphin users.  This would be in
addition to the current Smalltalk ring, so sites could belong to both, but
would just be a bit more focussed.

Alain's link page shows that there are a reasonable number of sites that
might be interested but I reckon it would need at least half a dozen joining
in to make it worthwhile. Any takers?

In case anyone isn't aware of what a webring is -

Owners of sites related to the webring's subject can join in by adding a
small code fragment to one of their pages. This enables anyone visiting that
page to, either sequentially or directly via the ring's hub, access other
pages relating to the same subject. The advantages for people doing the
browsing is that they can locate related information much more quickly than
via a search engine, are less likely to come across dead links and don't
have to keep checking for new sites (assuming that the new sites will join
the ring!).

Comments?

My dolphin site is small, but I would join the ring if there were one.  I
think it is a great idea.

Small sites, even single pages, would be fine - they are the ones it can be
hard to find again.

That's two sites then - anyone else?

Thanks to all who replied. It looks like there are enough sites to make it
worthwhile so I'll start the process of setting up the ring.  Once that is
done I'll mail those of you who replied with details of how to add a site to
the ring.

If anyone else wishes to join then mail me directly and I'll add them to the
list
