Hi,
VA ST 8.5.2 is out. It comes with an update of Glorp to Version 0.4.190. I wonder what exactly that means. Isn't the versioning scheme of Glorp in synch with the VisualWorks version it ships with? How current or old is 0.4.190? Where exactly does this number come from? Does this version support DB2 host variables (:var1 instead of ?) ? Hi,
so I fired up VisualWorks and looked at the Public StORE Repository. There is a version called 0.4.190, committed by dwallen on 06/12/2008, 10:15:48pm There also are some fixes to 0.4.189 that were committed to Cincom's repository after that. Are these fixes included in the VAST version? 0.4.190 seems to be the last version that followed the old versioning scheme, all versions after that have the VisualWorks version numbers that it shipped with. Can somebody from Instantiations explain a little what the VAST version is missing in contrast to newer versions from Alan / Cincom? Skimming through the Comments of later versions, I see comments like these: 63886: "Glorp does not properly save a delete from OrderedCollection" 62346: "Glorp SQLServerPlatform does not properly support SQLServer 2000" 59007: "Glorp.OraclePlatform has two issues regarding string measurement" While many ARs seem to be StORE and VW specific, it seems there also are fixes that are important for VAST users... Hi Joachim,
Glorp version 0.4.190 matches up with Visualworks naming scheme in the Public Store (as you noted in follow up post). Since the VA Smalltalk side Glorp support is far behind the VisualWorks support, we are trying to play catch up incrementally , so we have been following the breaks between major (VW) releases. Host variable support did not get completed in time to make it into 8.5.2, but I have been in contact with the VisualWorks folks who indicate they have got it working now, so maybe it will make it into the next release. Thanks for your comments and interest! Bob Brodd
