Windows COM Parcel in vw7.7

Peter Collins

Has anyone loaded the Windows COM-All 7.7 – 1.9 Parcel?  I have tried my development image and a clean image, with the home directory set correctly, and keep getting a walkback with an unhandled #asString message not understood. When I go into debug I get the following messages:

One of your source files is invalid -- reason:

            "ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND"

Check that the VisualWorks home directory path is set properly

(in the Launcher window, select Set VisualWorks Home on the File menu).

Alternately, edit the sources file name (in bold), select the entire expression below, and evaluate using "Do It"

            SourceFileManager default file: 1

                                    name: '$(VISUALWORKS)\image\visual.sou'

                                    writable: false

Thanks

Peter

Is this Vista or NC, and the environment (registry) setting hasn't actually been made?  I've run into that, and one work around is to simly set the VISUALWORKS variable at the command prompt and start VW at the same prompt.

Or run with admin rights and ensure that the registry setting has been saved

Are the files readable by the user who is trying to access them?

Hi, I am running Windows XP SP3. My registry entry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cincom Systems, Inc.\VisualWorks\7.7 has a key “VISUALWORKS” set to “D:\vw7.7nc”

I have a system environment variable of “VISUALWORKS” set to “D:\vw7.7nc”, and have tried running the image from a command prompt and a desktop shortcut but it still doesn’t like something.

I have a vwnc version 7.2 with the COM package loaded and that is fine.  Is there anything else that I might have missed?

Thanks
