Winsock: dotted numeric addresses

Hello all,

I think I just found the answer to something that's cost me several hours, a
couple at a time, and thought it might be of general interest: leading zeros
in a dot notation IP address (for example, '198.168.010.012') cause Winsock
to interpret the field as octal  =:0
