X6 install hang

dsp4st
Install X6 on windows XP SP1, it hangs at about 90%, copying
MSVCR71.dll to system32.

I tried removing the existing (and newer) file first, but it still
hangs there (but the file (dated 10/8/2003) does get created).

I installed X6 on windows 2000 server with no problems.  So I copied
the install directory to the XP machine, and ran the Professional
(Fresh Install).img, and it seems to be working ok.

I saw this too, but the problem disappeared after I emptied the
trash ... I guess having "only" 30MB free on the drive at that
point *was* a little narrow :-)

There was one report of a similar occurrence in the beta programme and
I guess it must be something to do with the QSetup installation builder
that we are using. Short of reporting it to the QSetup people, I don't
see much we can do about it at present so I'm glad you have found a
workaround.

best regards,

I should have said that this has been recorded as issue #2017.

Had the same problem on W2K SP4. A closer look showed me that there are
*two* files, which cause problems when overwriting:

MSVCR71.dll
MSVCP71.dll

Solution: Just delete them both (in \WINNT\system32) and install again.

Works for me.
