adding meta description to pier site

how would i go about doing this?

You are probably referring to the html meta information. In this case, you need to edit the Contents component.

the only ones i have are:

Title:
Component Class:
Component
Heading:
Head Title:
Head Keywords:
Head Author:

i don't have "description" showing up..

i am looking at:

/system/components/contents/

is this where i need to be?
