[bug] gst-convert broken in git tree

After updating my git tree I noticed that gst-convert stopped working
when converting TO the new syntax: It says "error: method is
responsibility of a subclass".

I bisected the tree and found that
e379820e0947fcae9b1561800a469f8df7b131c7
is the bad commit here.
