Some years, IIRC ca 1999 ago OA released a version of Dolphin ST (2.1)
which I think would be the equivalent to the present DVE version in the PCPlus Magazine cover CD. Is there plans to re-issue that with a newer (preferable the present :-) version? -- Cesar Rabak |

Its possible that we might do that when D6 is released, however our experience has been that this is only worth doing where there is a related article in the magazine. If anyone is interested in writing articles that you'd like to accompany with a copy of Dolphin, then write to us and we'll see what we can do. Regards Blair |

I don't know how relevant this is, but I first heard of Dolphin by finding it on the cover disk of PCW in 1998 - I'm pretty certain there was no accompanying article. I loaded it and played with it occasionally over the years, and when I wanted to do some serious Smalltalk earlier this year I used the saved files to track down OA and see what had happened to Dolphin over the years. I have now upgraded to Dolphin Pro. I realise a sample of one is no evidence, but it is worth noting that payoff can be quite long term. Peter Kenny |

I think that particular "release" did have a 1.5 page article with it written by a staffer (basically positive but slagging the absence of documentation). Since then there has been another cover disk in the UK with a later version of Dolphin on it but no accompanying text, and a version of VW too, but I didn't see any evidence that anyone had really noticed them. Perhaps that's what Andy's referring to. -- chris |
