cgi2vw 20 seconds delay

Ernst-2
Hi,
I try to relay all requests to the VW web server through the waverelay,
because I want to use ssl (https://  ).
Each request trough cgi2vw is delayed by 20 seconds.
When the request originates from localhost there is sometimes no delay.
The requests get eventually answered correctly, but every time the cgi2vw has
a segmentation fault:
Aug  7 00:50:50 catalina2 kernel: catalina2@4910[20528]: segfault at
0000000000000046 rip 0000000000bfb6ed rsp 00000000ffeecb2c error 4

The 20 seconds delay makes it unusable. The segmentaion fault is a worry.

I have tried:
Tested with cgi2vw-test.pl that the cgi2vw.ini is accessible. Set USER to
apache in httpd.conf as described in cgi2vw-test.pl

Disabled all logging in  cgi2vw.ini to avoid writing log files in case there
is a permission problem.

Software:
Fedora 6: Linux 2.6.20-1.2962.fc6 #1 SMP Tue Jun 19 18:50:05 EDT 2007 x86_64
GNU/Linux
apache: httpd-2.2.4-2.1.fc6
vw7.5nc, cgi2wv from CD: VWNC 7.5 apr 16, 2007

Thanks for looking at this
Ernst

The 20 second delay is so large that to me it suggests a timeout of some kind - perhaps something like a name resolution, or reverse DNS lookup.

However, I would recommend with Apache to use the Perl relay rather than the CGI one. It is much more transparent and easier to configure/debug. As well, if you have mod_perl installed, it will be significantly more efficient, because it will not have the overhead of CGI invocation.

Thank you,
The perl relay worked right away.
