fixing ScratchConnect in Etoys 5.0 RC3

Koji Yokokawa-5
I reported issues about ScratchConnect and put patches to fix them in
Etoys 5.0 RC3.

SQ-1085 (ScratchConnect broadcast tile doesn't work in ScriptEditor)
http://tracker.squeakland.org/browse/SQ-1085

 SQ-1086 (improve ScratchClientMorph vocabulary )
http://tracker.squeakland.org/browse/SQ-1086

 SQ-1087 (ScratchConnect Player>>sensorUpdate: lacks a space)
http://tracker.squeakland.org/browse/SQ-1087

These patches will make it work correctly so far.
Please tell me any issues about ScratchConnect I will respond them.

Re: fixing ScratchConnect in Etoys 5.0 RC3

Steve Thomas
Koji,

Thank you very much, this is a great addition to Etoys.

I created an initial how to video for using it: http://youtu.be/cpML_rGti1c where kids can "choreagraph" their own dance moves. It could be extended where kids take pictures of themselves in different dance positions.

I can also see kids creating their own chat applications, multi-player games, and many things I can't think of :)

Thanks again,
Stephen

Koji Yokokawa-5
Thank you to share your video.
It's nice demo how to control Scratch from Etoys.
I look forward to see chat system or multi-player games.

Re: fixing ScratchConnect in Etoys 5.0 RC3

Bert Freudenberg
IMHO we should release 5.0 as it is, now (it has been ready to go for weeks). And then do a 5.0.1 in a few weeks, which should have this fix.

Re: fixing ScratchConnect in Etoys 5.0 RC3

Karl Ramberg
Ok.
I agree. I got a little off track after ester and have not really done anything since then.
Is there anything we should do other than rename the RC3 to 5.0 ?

Re: fixing ScratchConnect in Etoys 5.0 RC3

Bert Freudenberg
The finished 5.0 installers (Windows/Mac/To-Go) are already in the home directory. Don't just rename the RC3, at least for Mac and To-Go the meta data is different. We just need to update the website.

So what's left to do is upload the release notes. Last I heard Rita volunteered to do that but the page is still empty:

        http://squeakland.org/download/releaseNotes5.jsp

Then we can copy the 5.0 download page over to index.jsp:

        http://squeakland.org/download/index5.jsp

... and move the installers from home into the installers/ directory.

The last step might be to update the badge on the home page which currently says 4.1:

        http://squeakland.org/images/badgeEtoys4.png

(I should have the source artwork for that on my disk at home, will look into it when I'm back this weekend)

And then start spreading the word :)

PS: Swedish House Mafia had one of the best performances at Coachella, IMHO ;)
