image persistency - how often does it save?

i set my image up for automatic persistence, and did a snapshot to test..

while checking the backup today, i realized that the backup hasn't
happened for a few days..

do i need to do something else to fire this off?

By default it only happens every hour, and only if you edit something
in the model.
