interactive halt with remote GemTools

ccrraaiigg

Hi all--

I run Gemstone on an EC2 server (Ubuntu 12.04), and Pharo GemTools
on the same machine, displaying onto a virtual xpra display that I
connect to from Ubuntu 12.04 running on my Mac laptop (in Parallels). It
works great except for all the layers of keyboard handling. When I type
command-period, I get some Ubuntu UI frivolity instead of a halt in Pharo.

Before I go hunting through the keyboard setup instructions for
each layer, I was wondering if anyone else here has a similar setup and
can advise...

     thanks again!

If you have a Windows VM in Parallels on your Mac then you could try Jade (http://seaside.gemstone.com/jade/). The Mac version is a bit rough and does not have the 3.1.0.1 libraries yet.

I use Pharo on non-virtualized Ubuntu with Eliot Miranda's Cog VM and
have to hit Right-Alt + period to get a halt.

But I'm not using the Ubuntu Unity window manager either so ymmv...

Good luck

Paul
