keyboard weirdness

i can't think of a better way to describe this, other than weirdness..

using pharo 1.4 on both osx snow leopard and mountain lion.

this happens a few times a day, but i can't predictable reproduce it:

i am working away in pharo, then switch to another app..

when i come back, i can type, but i can't backspace.
if i hit the tab key, it cycles my pharo image through its open windows..

if i hit ctl, everything snaps back to normal..

any ideas?
