rename class category?

Do you mean programmatically or from the UI?
 From the UI, over the category name in the class browser, right click
(or alt/apple click) the category, in the pop up menu you should have a
'rename...' menu item.

Here's what I see. There is no "rename..." option in that menu. Notice  
that I'm using OmniBrowser.

Seems like an OmniBrowser omission. Use a System Browser for this then.
