Hi...
I was playing with the minimorphic image Pavel has made (very nice work :) ) I installed seaside+scriptaculous on it, seems to work great ! so if someone want to try it, I put it there... http://cdrick.seasidehosting.st (pier) or http://cdrick.seasidehosting.st/resources/SeasideMini.zip (direct access) Cédrick ------------------------- Basic seaside image based on Pavel MinimalMorphic image (Last Kernel Images: http://comtalk.net/public/pub/KernelImage/ImagePack20070212.zip) * Seaside2 (Seaside2.7a1-lr.185) * FileLibrary (FileLibrary-RJT.19) * Scriptaculous (Scriptaculous-lr.185) <http://cdrick.seasidehosting.st/resources/SeasideMini.zip> _______________________________________________ Seaside mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/seaside |
What version of squeak is this based on?

It's based on Squeak 3.9. It's possible to load special version of
Seaside that runs even on image without any GUI. Cool. Grabbed it. I'll let you know how it goes.

OK, I'm finding it a bit too minimal - I can't figure out how to set
up preferences - I hate the scrollbars on the left, and I really need the row of buttons in the code browser (browse, senders, ....). I'm also used to having the mouse buttons swapped, and cmd-B should always bring up package browsers - I have way too much code to use the green browsers. So I appreciate the effort, but I can't use it as is. It is too primitive for development. On Feb 16, 2007, at 8:32 PM, Todd Blanchard wrote: > Cool. Grabbed it. Hi,
thanks for putting this up. I was playing with it but I noticed some source missing, or at least it looked like there was some decompiled source. Is this normal or does it need access to a standard .sources file? I was looking in MethodContext and around there. Thanks, Mike On 16 Feb 2007, at 18:11, Cédrick Béler wrote: > Hi... > > I was playing with the minimorphic image Pavel has made (very nice > work :) ) > > I installed seaside+scriptaculous on it, seems to work great ! > > so if someone want to try it, I put it there... _______________________________________________ Seaside mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/seaside |
Hi Mike,
I have no decompiled methods in MethodContext class. Do you have source file for Squeak 3.9? But on the other hand I see that messages #freeNamesAndValues and doItScope has no source code - that this methods were not removed properly (bad methodDictionary). I will have to check it. Thank you. Cheers, -- Pavel On 2/17/07, Michael Roberts <[hidden email]> wrote: > Hi, > > thanks for putting this up. The initialization of preferences isn't solved well in current Squeak - at least it is not prepared for modularization so I load it from image segments. > - I hate the scrollbars on the left, Some older smalltalkers hate scrollbars on the right ;-) >and I really need > the row of buttons in the code browser (browse, senders, ....). It has almost full code base of regular Squeak 3.9 image (it doesn't include Nebraska) and and you've got there the common settings but it's little bit smaller than 3.9 image. However the main reason is that we need more real-life experiences and bug reports for this modularized image so it may be good way how to contribute to Squeak development. Instead I hate the long mouse moves. Text is usually left aligned and so moving the scrollbar into the opposite direction is, on the average, the longest move. I suffered from a double crunch syndrome (two nerves crunched, arm and hand) only because I had to use MS$ scrollbars for some decades [no joke]. Only people who do texts from right to left (there are many) can hate scrollbars on the left :) /Klaus _______________________________________________ Seaside mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/seaside |
I could maybe get used to the scrollbars - but the loss of the button bar and inability to make the package browser the default is a deal breaker.

(I've just done an image with vnc settled and the last seaside, scriptaculous. I'll put it online later) but keep in mind I'm no expert, and I might introduce problems (try directly Pavel's images ;) or at least see his wiki http://www.comtalk.net/Squeak/98 for a better view of his works). Me, I'm just trying to use it... because I like when it's minimal... I feel I can finally understand the system without being lost ;), and I also think some people may want to have that "mini" seaside image to try it... I also entered the main monticello repository I use...
