Hi. The default browser of Pharo 1.4 is very basic. Or I don't know the shortcuts or directly it is not supported.
Anyway, I recommend you to install another browser, like Nautilus.

Hi  Mariano,
actually i do have nautilus installed, my question is, well, more about
whether pharo is now becoming unusable without mouse by design or just
accidently or whether i overlook something.

Hi. No, it is the other way arround. We now have much better shortcuts, and even keymamppings: http://marianopeck.wordpress.com/2011/12/04/why-keymapping-rocks/
The thing is that nobody expects that people use the default browser of Pharo 1.4. So yes, THAT browser may be ugly regarding keyboard. But take a look to Nautilus.

Open Nautilus, click on the right upper key -> "shortcuts description". Then you can pick up a group and see the shortcuts. See the attached screenshot.

In addition, to move between panes in Nautilus just use the arrows (left and right).

Cheers

Benjamin Van Ryseghem (Pharo)
Thanks Mariano :)

BTW, it clearly misses some "gloabal" shortcuts for switching hierarchy or not, groups/package etc :)

It's on my to do list ^^

Mariano,
i see. and your keymapping essay makes sense for me and is interesting
(nevertheless i dont understand <g> why throwing away a very common and
simple method, that everybody knows, like tabbing through the morphs is
necessary).
thanks for your answer.

+1. Probably it was not on purpose. Probably it may have been lost (it was working before?) and since nobody reported it....

thanks for your answer.

Doing is accepting doing mistakes and learning from them.

We are not aiming for the glacial perfection, just improving steadily.

Hi Stéphane,

> Doing is accepting doing mistakes and learning from them.

i know and occassionally i want to learn something too and then i accept
<g> posing a stupid question in a 'A friendly place where any question
about pharo is welcome'. often i get a helpful and occasionally
thought-provoking answer and i guess that's what this place is good for too.

Yes but I wanted to say that this is important to accept mistake.
Our goal is to have a browser that can be used without a mouse but be better than the previous one
so we are getting there.
