[squeak-dev] [ANN][Squeak-dev Images] June 2008 versions

Damien Cassou-3
Hi,

I've just uploaded new squeak-dev and squeak-web images based on
Squeak3.9.1-7075, Squeak3.10.1-7175 and Pharo0.1-10032.

More information and download: http://damien.cassou.free.fr/squeak-dev.html

Changes in this version:
---------------------------

- Algernon has been removed from the beta images. It's because it
affects loading time of packages through MC a lot. The developers told
me they will work on that and I plan to reintegrate Algernon as soon
as possible.
- NiceFonts (http://www.jvuletich.org/NiceFonts.html) has been
installed in beta images.
- The Squeak3.10 based images are now based on 3.10.1-7175.
- Pharo (https://gforge.inria.fr/projects/pharo/) is a new base for
squeak-dev images (named pharo-dev)
- The refactoring engine and the different refactoring tools have been cleaned
- OB-Enhancements saw a lot of fixes
- Pier and Magritte have been updates in web images

-------------------------

You are not obliged to download a new image if you don't want. You can
always update your image.

To upgrade your already existing squeak-dev image:

1) World menu->open...->Package Universe Browser
2) Update list from network
3) Select all upgrades
4) Install selection
5) Execute: 'DEVImageCreator default install' (all windows will be closed)

Prepared packages:
--------------------------

There are a lot of packages prepared for you in this image. They are
not loaded in the image, but they can be easily.

- Open Package Universe Browser (world->open...->Package Universe Browser).
- Click on "Update list from network"
- Wait a few seconds
- Select your packages
- Install them

Thank you Damien for your good work. The font looks good on the screen.
I try the 3.10 image and there is a Baby-SRE package without any classes.

IIUC, it is due to the release team and should be fixed in 3.10.2.

Hi Damien, thanks for these.

I ran the test suite on the 3.9 dev, and get 47 failures, 66 errors. Additionally, ChildrenToSiblingsTest throws a syntax error, and SemaphoreTest hangs.

Is this to be expected? Should I log some or all as bugs?

I'm on Ububtu 7.10.

Thanks,    ...Stan

You don't need to log anything currently because it is well known that
some unit tests fail.
