I discovered Dolphin (and Smalltalk) through just that cover-disk too (though I
seem to have been a little quicker off the mark than you ;-).  I think that
particular "release" did have a 1.5 page article with it written by a staffer
(basically positive but slagging the absence of documentation).

Since then there has been another cover disk in the UK with a later version of
Dolphin on it but no accompanying text, and a version of VW too, but I didn't
see any evidence that anyone had really noticed them.  Perhaps that's what
Andy's referring to.
