Not at all! I came from the Ruby world and, even though I'm all Smalltalk now, I still attend Ruby conferences and get value out of them.

There is a NYC Smalltalk group. I've been trying to contact the organizer to do an Amber presentation, but no luck so far. If I don't hear back in a reasonable time, we could just set one up on our own...

p.s. there are a few other NYC Smalltalkers that I know of. The meetings that I went to usually had about 6-8.
