the future: dynamic languages

Nowak, Helge
the future: dynamic languages

Dear Smalltalkers,

I know I am probably preaching to the choir here but the interest in dynamic languages is rising dramatically. See e. g. this post on Jim's Blog and the original reference from IBM's (!) web site: http://www.cincomsmalltalk.com/blog/blogView?showComments=true&entry=3340356676 and http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/java/library/j-cb11076.html?ca=drs-

We all know that Smalltalk is the most powerful mature stable and high-performance dynamic language around.  Cincom has perceived this change in state of mind already a couple of years ago. And we are building on it with success. But we need supporters. This is the chance for Smalltalk's second spring!

In order to give open minded OO developers without Smalltalk background the possibility to gain personal hands-on experiences Cincom is organizing in parallel to the Cincom Smalltalk User Conference the Experience Cincom Smalltalk Workshop: http://www.cincomsmalltalk.com/userblogs/cincom/blogView?content=userConf2006Workshop

Workshop attendees will also hear the Conference key notes from George Bosworth (ex-Digitalk and ex-Microsoft .NET vm engineer), Heinz-Ulrich Roggenkemper (Executive Vice President of Development SAP Labs) and Scott Ambler (Practice Leader IBM Methods Group) and will have the opportunity to talk in the free time to Smalltalkers from all over the world.

Please invite potentially interested people from your customers, partners and friends to participate. Available seats are limited obviously!

Apropos Cincom Smalltalk User Conference (http://www.cincom.com/cst2006): we have already a good chunk of registered attendees and seats are running short. But we want more (don't we all always want more?). So every Smalltalker from all over the world who is interested in direct contact to Cincom Smalltalk management, Cincom Smalltalk engineers and Cincom Smalltalk users should make up his or her mind and register. BTW, the conference is not only open for VisualWorks and ObjectStudio users. VSE and any other Smalltalk dialect users who are interested in the advancements of Cincom Smalltalk are very welcome too!!

Cheers
Helge
