I just added a number of new monticello changesets to contributions
section of the croquet distribution.
- thumbtack annotations ported over from Jasmine. You can now push
pins into things, and assiciate a text annotation with the pin. To
keep the world from getting cluttered, these thumbtack annoations are
only visible through a filter portal. The "thumbtack annotations"
portal filter can be found under the View menu in the simpledemo and
sailing worlds. Meta-clicking on an annotatable object (like the
boat, for instance) calls a popup menu that includes an option for
adding a thumbtack annotation.
- more options for the way you move from one world to another. The
dialog box you get after choosing the "Connect to Another World"
option under the tools menu in the Sailing and Simpledemo worlds has
options for 2-way portals and one way portals to connect the worlds.
You can also "just appear" in the other world... this is something
like teleporting. We really need some cool animation and sound effect
for teleporting. ;-)
- the boat in the sailing world moves smoothly now. Previously we
were fighting the camera that follows the avatar by updating the
avatar's position when the camera was not expecting it. The results
was some really nasty jerkiness of the boat and avatar. By moving the
position updates of the boat (on which the avatar is riding) to be
called when the boat is rendered, things are nice and smooth. Now we
just need some sails and wind, and we can start running sailboat races.
Installation notes: for the thumbtack stuff, you will also need the
mesh for the thumbtack. This can be downloaded by clicking on the
"install updates" button, or by calling "do it" on
