Just noticed a small inconsistency with the VW implementation, CachedBlockClosure value should revert the an uncached block, then evaluate value, rather than also return the cached value. (Issue 2719)
Also, there are currently some limitations to which kinds of blocks will be cached, as per the first two comments in:
