Hi, List,
there has allways been a feature of VSE, moved also to VA thanks to VAAssist, showing methods names changed from repository with a different color (blue in this case).
This allows easy discovery of changes (in reality the colouring scheme was more complex, colouring modified package and bundle also, but this is already done by showing different icons on VW),
There is perhaps some flag I don't know that allows this also on VW browsers?
Here is an example of a VSE browser with changed methods (blu one). Like you can see, it makes changed thing really popping up. Blue show Cluster (VSE for Bundle) Package (VSE for package...) , Class and methods with changes inside.
Ciao
Giorgio

AFAIK, there is no such flag. I know a company which has added this feature (and many others) to their VisualWorks toolset, but have not published it. Too bad. :-( I like this feature very much, it makes it much easier to find changes. GHStoreEnhance will give you part of it: It adds the version name to the package list of the browser, and if something in the package changes, the version name is printed in bold and red. The company I mentioned above has an elaborated version of this which uses different colors for unchanged packages where the prerequisites are not fulfilled, and for bundles which contain unchanged packages having a different version from the one published in the bundle. I don't remember if this is in GHStoreEnhance too. Joachim _______________________________________________ vwnc mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.cs.uiuc.edu/mailman/listinfo/vwnc |
Hi, Joachim,

Hi Giorgio,
you may also want to try RBDynamicProtocols. It will display a protocol for all changed methods. Also notice, that there's a settings panel where you can choose which protocols are shown. Kind Regards Karsten giorgio ferraris wrote: > Hi, Joachim, > > thanks a lot, I'll look at GHStoreEnhance. > > ciao > > Giorgio > > PS: to te list, sorry for double posting, I supposed to have cancelled > first post. > > > On 7/24/08, *Joachim Geidel* <[hidden email] > <mailto:[hidden email]>> wrote: > > Hi Giorgio, > > Am 24.07.08 12:37 schrieb "giorgio ferraris": > > there has allways been a feature of VSE, moved also to VA thanks to > > VAAssist, showing methods names changed from repository with a > different > > color (blue in this case). > > This allows easy discovery of changes (in reality the colouring > scheme was > > more complex, colouring modified package and bundle also, but > this is > > already done by showing different icons on VW), > > > > There is perhaps some flag I don't know that allows this also on VW > > browsers? > > AFAIK, there is no such flag. This got me to thinking:
overrides are currently shown in red, which is nice. Most of them are to
Cincom-supplied packages. If you just change a Cincom method, you can't see that
it's been changed unless you have also published and reconciled the base. Why
not make it so by default, changing a method in a Cincom-supplied package asks
you if you want to override it? Steve
