In Vista, drawing a rectangle causes the rectangle to be black,
preventing the user from seeing what's beneath the rectangle.
As a workaround:
Change the Vista setting Enable Desktop Composition to *unchecked* to
make the problem go away.
Also it was noted that the problem does appear if the screen color depth
set up to the 32 bit VW 16.
