[vwnc] New Opensource: UML for Smalltalk

Josef Springer
Hello Smalltalk community,

we have decided, do distibute our Smalltalk framework UMLForSmalltalk as Opensource.
The framework supports building classes by using all kind of UML-Links.
The framework is developed for VisualWorks, but may be usable under other dialects.

Feartures of  framework UMLForSmalltalk:
  • Supporting associations
  • Supporting aggregations
  • Supporting unidirectional links
  • Supporting bidirectional links
  • Supporting all link-cardinalites
With the framework UMLForSmalltalk hirachical structures of classes (models) can be organized by using all kind of links as described in the UML. With UMLForSmalltalk the work with complex models is much more easier !

The package is available from http://www.joops.com/UMLForSmalltalk/UML.zip. The archive contains:
JOOPS-ObjectLinks.pcl and
JOOPS-ObjectLinks.pst
The parcel with all framework classes. The parcel has no prerequisites and is loadable with VisualWorks 7.4 or higher.
All classes are contained in the namespace Joops.UML, and in the package JOOPS-ObjectLinks. All is generated by parceling in.
UML.mdl and UMLLinks.cat
The UML-description of the framework with the modeling tool Rational-Rose from IBM

Improvements and comments are wellcome !

The classes are very laconic on how to use them and there is not
examples or auxiliary documentation about them.  The UML.mdl and
UMLLinks.cat are not useful if one does not possess Rational Rose. . .
