[vwnc] New VW7.6b VM ...

Dennis smith-4
I installed this and started having some gemstone problems, so I went
back to the previous VM (I think) -- except the splash screen still says
    VW7.6b

If I run the "visual.exe" directly, it says  7.6.

I checked my shortcut and its correct, anyone know what is happening?

[vwnc] 7.6b VM availability?

Martin McClure
Is the 7.6b VM available for download? And is there a description of the
changes? My usual source for VM patch information,

   http://www.cincomsmalltalk.com/CincomSmalltalkWiki/VisualWorks+Patches

claims that 7.4d is the latest engine available.

Thanks,

-Martin

Re: [vwnc] 7.6b VM availability?

Boris Popov, DeepCove Labs (SNN)
Martin,

I found it here,

http://tinyurl.com/cvlcly

which is linked from,

http://www.cincomsmalltalk.com/ResolutionsApplication/CincomResolutionsP
ortal

which is linked from,

http://www.cincomsmalltalk.com

when you click on "Support". I am also currently testing a changeset
kindly provided to me by Cincom tech support that accompanies socket
related changes in the VM. In my limited testing it seemed like the
change set was not a mandatory update and that 7.6b VM passed all tests
on a stock 7.6 image anyway. I am yet to confirm that our socket
troubles are fixed by the changes, but so far it doesn't look like it
made anything worse.

Cheers!

-Boris

Boris,

Thank you very much. I've clearly been looking in the wrong place for
these patches; the new place makes more sense.

Regards,

-Martin

Re: [vwnc] 7.6b VM availability?

Simpson, Deanna
Hi -- I've updated the link from the Cincom Smalltalk wiki to point to
the new Resolutions Portal
http://www.cincomsmalltalk.com/ResolutionsApplication/CincomResolutionsP
ortal

For now, if you want the new VM for Windows, go to the Resolutions
Portal, and click on VisualWorks -- it is the High Priority Resolution
indicated on the VisualWorks page -- 95743.
