[vwnc] PositionableStream>>isEmpty

Hi,

the current implementation of isEmpty seams odd to me for some subclasses.  
E.g. a ReadStream appears to be empty if no elements are read yet. Other  
streams may be affected as well. Is this behaviour intended?
