[vwnc] Trouble installing Gemstone

Hi all,

I am using VWNC 7.6 on Windows XP and just decided to give Gemstone a try.
The problem is that when executing Gemstone's setup.exe file I consistently
get a Windows dialog with the following error message: "The parameter is
incorrect".

Has anyone had the same problem?

I can't help on the Windoze stuff, but you might also want to post to the GS support forum (you might have to subscribe, but it's free).

Try copying the setup.exe from the VW CD to your hard drive. I remember encountering problems like that but they could be worked around.

Another thing, if GS fails to start after being installed and the log files says a file does not exist, try creating the directory C:\users\default. It is a windows-specific GS installation bug that is decades old. The default config files specify a directory that does not exist.
