[vwnc] What exactly is WebVelocity exactly..?

Rick Flower
Ok.. I've seen this mentioned numerous times and watched some amusing
podcasts
but I'm not sure where this fits into the grand scheme of things with
regards to VW
in general, licensing & pricing and whatnot..

I'm going to make an assumption that its something that sits on top of
VW 7.7 and
will possibly be bundled with it?

Anyway, overall I didn't find out what the goals are for it, when it
will be available,
is there any added cost, what can it do that I can't currently do w/
Seaside by itself,
does it require any newer hardware (e.g. 64bit support like Gemstone),etc

If there are pointers out to the web that cover these then please point
away and I'll
check them out.. However last time I looked I didn't see any of these
addressed..

Thanks!

It's built on top of VW 7.6 and uses Seaside and Glorp (with an
ActiveRecord addition) to make building database driven web apps
easier.  As to pricing and licensing, that's still being determined
