Hi Group,
Does anyone have suggestions for providers for web site hosting /
application hosting in regard to:
1) VisualWorks Application Server?
2) Seaside and WebVelocity?
Thank you,
Gary

See:
That's using Smalltalk Server pages (in VW) rather than Seaside, but it plays the same way. I deployed a few Seaside apps while I was at Cincom, using this approach (although on their servers rather than a VPS) On Dec 4, 2010, at 1:24 PM, Gary Peterson wrote:

Hi Gary,
SageTea Group can provide hosting for Smalltalk applications. Hosting includes a static IP address, unlimited bandwidth and shell level access with standard email, ftp and ssh accounts. I can be reached at 877 722 2091 x 5 to order. regards, David On Sat, Dec 4, 2010 at 1:24 PM, Gary Peterson <[hidden email]> wrote:

Hi david
this is a great news. Did you do some ad in the seaside mailing-list? Do you have a website mentioning that. Thank you David and Stephane:
Do we have a sample "Hello

to standard applications?
Thank you,
Gary

You could try the Seaside tutorial:

Hello Stef,
yes, there is a free quote form: http://sageteagroup.com/cms/SmalltalkHosting A basic setup is just $29 a month. regards, David On Thu, Dec 23, 2010 at 2:04 AM, stephane ducasse <[hidden email]> wrote: david _______________________________________________ vwnc mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.cs.uiuc.edu/mailman/listinfo/vwnc |
One other thing to keep in mind - it's not that difficult to set up a VPS (and prices are much, much cheaper now than they used to be).
I run my server - http://www.jarober.com using Smalltalk, and I documented the setup here: On Dec 23, 2010, at 8:24 AM, David Long wrote: Hello Stef, _______________________________________________ vwnc mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.cs.uiuc.edu/mailman/listinfo/vwnc |

Hi Gary,
our basic hosting package provides the ability to launch any Smalltalk runtime which you provide. The $29 / month gets you the bandwidth and server access you need to configure your application. This would be for a "do it yourself" deployment. Most ISPs don't provide the type of access that Smalltalk applications require in order to run on the web. This is what our basic service does. Here is the link to order it: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=MBA7V3ELVRU7G For clients that want to take their current Smalltalk application and run it on the web, the best thing to do is send us their requirements using this form: http://sageteagroup.com/cms/Request%20For%20Quote We will customize a quote a monthly fee based service for each client based on what they send us. We also provide a web enabled Smalltalk solution (using Seaside) which can be used as an off the shelf front end. Here is a link to the demo: http://ottawa1.sageteagroup.com:8008/BizProLauncher (User name = Demo / Password = Online_2008) This is what we'd recommend for doing a Smalltalk based web front end - for inventory control for example. This has a new feature also which allows javaScript to be integrated directly. This is very handy if you have some code written in something other than Smalltalk which you want to use. If you are looking for something specific, best thing to do is fill out the quote form above. We'll get back with an answer in 48 hours. regards, David On Mon, Dec 27, 2010 at 12:25 AM, Gary Peterson <[hidden email]> wrote:
