3.8 updates stream handler?

Recent questions on using VMMaker remind me that a couple of related  
image updates really need to get issued for 3.8 soonest.

Who is looking after this stuff? Who is able to make an official  
3.8.1 release, which is something I recall hearing would be needed?

Doug would be the man I think.

Michael Rueger was more or less in charge of the original 3.8 release,
and he & I just emailed about this.  He's looking at collecting fixes
for a 3.8.1 release now, and I can help with packaging/releasing the
final image if needed.

Ok, I will sit down and figure out a proper snippet you can apply in
regards to SM.
