Imagine that a newbie decided to look into sqeak-dev for the first time and finds what? This does not look like a message for the public. Sorry. /Klaus > stef > > |

I can explain this one: during the upgrade of the services framework, some old preferences (now unused) were left out. this doIt removes them to avoid confusion. Romain

I downloaded 7058, and when starting up on Linux, I obtain a message:
"Squeak cannot locate the source file named /usr/local/lib/squeak/3.9-7/SqueakV39.sources" There is a (link to) SqueakV3.sources in the directory where image is. Last version I did use was Squeak3.9b-7033.image, and it was sufficient to have (link to) SqueakV3.sources in the directory where image is. Does this mean we need a different Source file and if so, where do I find it, I do not see it in ftp://ftp.squeak.org/3.9. Sorry if I am missing something obvious, Thanks Milan On 2006 September 14 15:34, stephane ducasse wrote: > cleaning services > fixing windowColorRegistry > > stef |
I do not know on linux but can you try to put the SqueakV39.sources
file beside the VM On 17 sept. 06, at 21:02, Milan Zimmermann wrote: > I downloaded 7058, and when starting up on Linux, I obtain a message: > > "Squeak cannot locate the source file > named /usr/local/lib/squeak/3.9-7/SqueakV39.sources" > > There is a (link to) SqueakV3.sources in the directory where image > is. > > Last version I did use was Squeak3.9b-7033.image, and it was > sufficient to > have (link to) SqueakV3.sources in the directory where image is. > > Does this mean we need a different Source file and if so, where do > I find it, > I do not see it in ftp://ftp.squeak.org/3.9. Hi Milan,
There is a new source file since ... 7056 or 7057, named SqueakV39.sources 7058 works fine on linux here, so the source file must be the problem. In the zip file you find a source file. IIRC squeak gives dominance to the source file in the image's folder. Just unzip, cd into the folder and start the image, it should work :) HTH, Yann Milan Zimmermann wrote: > I downloaded 7058, and when starting up on Linux, I obtain a message: > > "Squeak cannot locate the source file > named /usr/local/lib/squeak/3.9-7/SqueakV39.sources" > > There is a (link to) SqueakV3.sources in the directory where image is. > > Last version I did use was Squeak3.9b-7033.image, and it was sufficient to > have (link to) SqueakV3.sources in the directory where image is. > > Does this mean we need a different Source file and if so, where do I find it, > I do not see it in ftp://ftp.squeak.org/3.9. Yann, Stef,
Thanks - I was missing the obvious, did not occur to me to look for the V39.sources in the zip file, was looking on separate file on ftp site. Putting sources to the directory with image did not work, putting it to the VM directory does. One follow-up question : In previous versions, it was sufficient to put the sources in the directory that contains the image file. This version seems to require for source to be in the directory where the VM is. Is that intentional? (I would think it is better to be able to just put sources to where the image is, but maybe there is a reason) Thanks Milan On 2006 September 17 15:11, Yann Monclair wrote: > Hi Milan, > > There is a new source file since ... 7056 or 7057, named SqueakV39.sources > > 7058 works fine on linux here, so the source file must be the problem. > In the zip file you find a source file.
