Hi Folks,
it is getting December again, and for many of us, this means to stick
to some combination of pagan/christian traditions and to prepare fancy
looking trees, boots, presents, and also - advent calenders.
So I thought, why not join forces, and do one together? Entirely with
Squeak? We would have to fill 24 doors, and one frame and thus we could
all have something nice to give away on November the 30th - and also
make some marketing for Squeak. The calender should be available online
then so that we just can send around some links to it.
I have also set up a wiki-page for this endeavor:
http://kilana.unibe.ch:9090/squeakyadventcalendar/ What?
The main quality criterion for the entry behind a door is: It should be
surprising, fun and free!
So any self made or freely available games, simulations, music,
animations, or multimedia art are highly appreciated.
How?
• Every door is a project. Project can be done with EToys, Smalltalk
changesets or any combination of them.
• The projects (and any additional files) are hosted by yourself. I
will only help to provide a bracket around them. Help for the bracket
is very welcome, especially a fancy looking picture.
• The project should run within the actual Squeak Plugin-Image
provided by squeakland
• Every door should contain only self-made things where the source
can be put under some OSI approved / approvable license. I would
suggest the current license of OpenCroquet
• If you want to have music or movies, find some free ones, or make
them your own ;-) And please put images, sound, movies under some
creativecommons license
• Please indicate the used licenses (OpenCroquet license + creative
commons license somewhere in the project).
• Please include the names and ages of every participant of your
project somewhere in the project.
• I would suggest: One person - one door - one vote about the best
24 doors.
• Try to make it as international as possible. If you have to use
language, try to stick to English.
• If you are in, please register:
http://kilana.unibe.ch:9090/registeredadventcalendarsqueakers/Until?
• Please put the links to running doors in the next 3 weeks,
"deadline" is Friday, November 26th.
• If we receive more than 24 doors, the submitters will make a poll
for the best ones. If we receive more than 48, we just do two and so
on... ;-) If I receive less, we can still hope for the next year - or
we make a final rush...Or I will nag you as long as there are 25 people
on the wiki... ;-)
Any questions or ideas for improvement? Please also forward to any
lists, which I forgot...
Cheers,
Markus
