About 512M changes patch: (Alternate Mantis problem statement)

Jerome Peace
Hi all,

I took the time to write a mantis report with what I
think needs to be the goal for unlimiting source and
change files.

The problem:

Squeak periodically runs out of room in the source and
change files.
The number of files are currently fixed at two.
The size of each file is limited at 32M each.
Changes can only be added to the second file.

While compressing changes and sources works for
distibution, not having an image of squeak with the
history of all changes from the current source
severely hampers maintenence and repair.

Conclusion: Squeak needs to have a version source
system that does not have these gross limitations.

The full report is here:

Klaus's patches are in a referenced report and can be
found here:

http://bugs.impara.de/view.php?id=4369

and Tim's post proposing a larger cleanup of compiled
method is here:

Yours in service, -- Jerome Peace
