Do you still have any IRCCloud invites? I'd love one so I can be on #redline-st during the day...
Thanks! Bryan

Grr. I just went to log on, and got this message:
You were disconnected for inactivity 18 minutes ago. Free accounts are only allowed 2 days of inactivity. This is a subscription service. Not all the limits are enforced during the beta, but your current usage exceeds the normal allowance. My only option is to upgrade my account, min £3/mo plan. That sucks.

that sucks! When my account exceeds, i'll use webchat.freenode.net - not that pretty but i works fine and it's free.

Well, I have had intermittent internet access the last couple days and so it was not entirely voluntary inactivity.

Another option, especially if you already have a VPS or other
persistently connected server is just to run irssi in a tmux or screen session. That's what I used to do. I had to drop my VPS due to budget constraints. Just to explain the message: "You were disconnected for inactivity 18 minutes ago. Free accounts are only allowed 2 days of inactivity."
This does not mean your free account will be revoked after 2 days of inactivity. IRCCloud is a service that allows you to disconnect and resume connection, all the while being able to read the conversation that you missed while you were disconnected. When you exceed the 2 days of inactivity, it just means that history will be lost. |
I have three more invites to IRC Cloud if anyone is interested.
