The box-admins team is reponsible for seeing that the community shared
server is maintained and setting up any new features to be hosted on that server. The main activity in August was moving update.squeakfoundation.org to the community server, making this the primary Squeak Updates URL, and separating access to it to a separate account. There was a short period of mailing list silence when I inadvertently left the mail server in a state where it was not fully functioning after some maintenance. I want to thank the community for the monetary support needed to fund these boxes and remind them that the bills continue to appear and that you can currently contribute to the hosting bills by going to http://discuss.squeakfoundation.org/ and clicking on the 'donate' button at the top right. Note that a donation here may be used for other Squeak Foundation services including but not limited to development, development infrastructure, and promotion of Squeak. The services being hosted have continued to grow and include (but are not limited to): http://www.squeak.org/ SqueakMap - http://map.squeak.org/ http://ftp.squeak.org/ http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/ http://discuss.squeakfoundation.org/ http://source.squeakfoundation.org/ http://map.squeak.org/ https://svn.squeak.org/ (new subversion repository, not yet populated) http://update.squeakfoundation.org/ and DNS services for squeak.org and squeakfoundation.org domain names. Hi Ken,
there seems to not have been an action on the broken vm-dev <-> gmane issue, - http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/pipermail/squeak-dev/2006-August/107405.html Who's in control of the lists, is there somebody who can be asked (and perhaps can take action). /Klaus On Mon, 11 Sep 2006 20:27:40 +0200, Ken Causey wrote: > The box-admins team is reponsible for seeing that the community shared > server is maintained and setting up any new features to be hosted on > that server. > > The main activity in August was moving update.squeakfoundation.org to > the community server, making this the primary Squeak Updates URL, and > separating access to it to a separate account. > > There was a short period of mailing list silence when I inadvertently > left the mail server in a state where it was not fully functioning after > some maintenance. > > I want to thank the community for the monetary support needed to fund > these boxes and remind them that the bills continue to appear and that > you can currently contribute to the hosting bills by going to > > http://discuss.squeakfoundation.org/ > > and clicking on the 'donate' button at the top right. Perhaps I wasn't clear before. Gmane is completely seperate from the
lists. As far as I'm aware anyone can request that a gmane group be setup for a mailing list. So there is not necessary any linkage between the mailing list administrator or the list owner and the person who setup the mirror of the mailing list on gmane. That being said, I've looked at the setup for the gmane list and it is still pointing at the old list address on discuss.squeakfoundation.org which is no longer being used. I've requested that the settings be fixed. Note that you could have done this just as readily as I as it required no secret or hidden information or account.
