Create new service??

Bob Arning-2

There's been a little discussion about browser menus and I proffered the ability to omit selected items. I was thinking that there were some I never used, so why have them taking up space? In that vein, I notice "Create new service" at the top of the message list menu. I have never used this, do not know what it does and wonder why it is the #1 item in the list. Is this a commonly used item for some folks? Just curious.

Services do in fact allow to configure menu items as proposed (that is, if all menu commands actually were services, you would be able to reorder and hide them as you like), but the services browser (where you can do this) is not exactly intuitive and user friendly. I have once created an adapter to turn "revert to previous version" into a service, so it would appear in more places, but I think I did not use the "create new service" action.
