It doesn't sound to me like you are talking about the same thing.
Andreas is talking about the proprietary Qwaq Forums client, which is
used for the developer conference calls every two weeks. It sounds
like you are talking about the regular open source Croquet SDK, which
is a different thing.
Did you try the SDK without doing the updates? After a new OS install
that would be a good thing to do. You don't want to debug too many
things at once.
