Hobbes Emulator licensed

Wolfgang Helbig-2
List,

Vassily Bykov kindly put his Hobbes Emulator under this license:
        http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/2.5/

Thank you, Vassily!

This license does not cover the ST-80 V2 image, since Xerox holds the copyright
to the image.

As Vassily pointed out, the emulator also works with the "Apple Smalltalk
image", whatever and whereever this is.

Greetings,

Wolfgang

Stephane,

you want:

>Then where is hobbes :)

Inside a Squeak 3.6 image I've got from Dan when I asked him for the fonts used
in Smalltalk-80. I do not have access to the original Hobbes Emulator as
programmed by Vassily for Visual Works.

If authorized by Dan, I'd put the sources of his port of Hobbes on my web site.
But I'd prefer Dan to put it on his site or better yet on some of Squeak's
repository.

Since the V2-image from Xerox PARC is not published, and probably never will,
Hobbes is of limited value only. At least to me.

Greetings
Wolfgang

But if this is release under creative commons, then it should be made
available
else I do not see the point.
I have a version on my harddisc but if I want to use that for a
lecture, I would prefer
to have a public version.

Dan :)

I really think that we should put one image freely available.
So that people can learn from it.
Dan don't you have an image that can be made public.

I hereby authorize it.  I don't have any time until after the weekend, so put it anywhere you want until then.  Afterward I shall put it on my web site, along with the APDA image which is open, and in ways better anyway.

I have the files for the APDA release, but I can't get them out until after the weekend (unless there happens to be internet in the mountains where I'm going).

More later.

What? You mean there are place where there *isn't* net access? How
can this be - quickly, we must fix it! Think of the children!

Cool
Wolf what about publish a MC package on squeaksource?
and automagically producing a SqueakMap entry each time you will
produce a new version.
The technology is there and cool.
