Is SqueakSource as Monticello repository limited to open-source projects?

Sophie424
The main app I will work on is commercial. Is it still OK to use
SqueakSource as my Monticello repository (there will be more than one of
us)? Who pays for it (or, how do I pay for is :-)? And how secure is it?

We do not care what you use SqueakSource for (as long it is legal).
Some projects are closed and probably used for commerical software, I
don't know.

All the other information you can find on the front-page:

"This service is brought to you for free: it is backed up daily.
Still, please make sure that you have your own proper backups and note
that we cannot give any accessibility guarantees. However, if you wish
you can set up your own SqueakSource server."

One of the nice properties of Monticello is that all touched versions
are cached on the developer machines as well. So you don't rely on the
availability of the squeaksource.com service.

"We gratefully acknowledge the support of the Software Composition
Group and the University of Bern for hosting this service."

It is running on one of our machines in Bern, Switzerland. Most
commercial projects I know have setup their own SqueakSource servers,
but this is not exactly trivial to do.

Cheers,
Lukas

Many of us find that an ftp server for rw access and http for public
access does just fine, without needing extensive setup investment

cheers

In this case just setting up a WebDAV sever is much simpler. Like this
you can skip the setup of the FTP server.
