Is anyone working or know of anyone working on Moodle/Croquet integration
(Similar to the Sloodle project - http://www.sloodle.com/)? Thank you ! Rich ==== |
We have received hundreds of emails about croquet-dev and have no idea what
it is. How may we get off this email list? Thanks very much for information and assistance. -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] Sent: Saturday, July 28, 2007 5:47 PM To: [hidden email] Subject: [croquet-dev] Moodle & Croquet Integration Is anyone working or know of anyone working on Moodle/Croquet integration (Similar to the Sloodle project - http://www.sloodle.com/)? There's no 3D creation tools that work within Croquet at this point?
|
A great (free) tool you may want to try is called CB Modee Pro ... exports out .obj files (that you can then import into Croquet).

This leads to interesting things like these videos, which approach art themselves: http://secondlife.com/showcase/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxVDVggLqsA |

Please take a look at TPainter in the SimpleDemo (and several other demo
worlds), CCPainter, and MockTurtle both in the PublicContribs repository of CroquetSource at http://hedgehog.software.umn.edu:8888/PublicContribs You might also take a look at the note at https://lists.duke.edu/sympa/arc/croquet-dev/2007-02/msg00074.html The KAT demo world also has some primitive creation and manipulation tools that may be expanded upon at some point. I have a few enhancements for a KAT-specific version of CCPainter that were never released, so let me know if you're interested in them. Although these are relatively crude tools by SL standards, they are available now and offer some alternatives to other 3D modeling tools. I don't think that the aim should be to make Croquet and SL into the same environment, so I don't see any particular reason why the tools in Croquet should be the same as the ones in SL. |

Since there's no nearby world, it never stops trying to connect and this freezes Squeak. > Although these are relatively crude tools by SL standards, they are available > now and offer some alternatives to other 3D modeling tools. I could see a point where Croquet could become a private sandbox for content creation. There are many "off-world" SL-oriented tools that are available, but as much as possible, people prefer to remain immersed in SL while creating. The ability to keep chatting with friends and monitor and participate in group IM within Croquet would make it more attractive to use than any SL-dedicated tool, though of course PhotoShop will still be required for the high end texture creation and manipulation. The ability for 2 or more people to be working on the same project is also a huge plus. |

The last time I tried it, it took 5 minutes or so to load up the world and its objects from the Collaborative's server, but if you just erase the server name when you're prompted for it, the initial KAT world should come up for you locally much quicker. |

It may be a firewall issue with the Mac or something. |
