News Team Report - July 2007

Hi All,

Well another month has come and gone and we posted a total of 4 articles.

That's pretty bad.  There is just not enough time.  We could use some volunteers!!

Here are the top 5 posts for July.

More eye-candy coming soon to your Squea        2,949

A Squeak 3.9 development tutorial       620

New Seaside website     315

OLPC - The $100 Laptop - Goes into Produ        245

Supporting Seaside, OR Mapping vs. OODBM        232 (article from June total 684)

By the way does anyone really read these reports?  Are they useful?

Thanks,

Ron Teitelbaum

I'm happy to help, both in writing small news items and monitoring the
submissions in-box. Where do I sign up?

I find them very useful, not least in reminding me that there are
things happening that aren't always visible on the list.

Just the presence of regular reports from the various teams is
valuable in itself: it gives the message that there's thought being
put into the organisation of work, discipline and effort in delivering
it, and a real interest in how the community benefits from it. I also
like the fact that each report generally reminds the reader of the
remit of that team, which helps new subscribers understand who's doing
what and why.

Cheers,
Michael

Sure they are! Specially for us who don't have time to check each and
every post on the mailing list. Such a briefing of happenings in Squeak
world is therefore really really important. It also strengthens a
feeling of community among us, IMHO. And it is kind of reward and
encouragement for those mentioned in the reports.

So, keep going on with your news effort!

Best regards
JAnko

In fact I prefer your reports over my own, at least you have some
interesting statistics.

Hello Ron,

RT> By the way does anyone really read these reports?  Are they useful?
in the face of general information overflow I like the report as it's
the only information I have about the articles.

Every now and then I read one.

Cheers
