[OT] looking for Beta Testers for a Second Life related tool written in Squeak

Michael Rueger-4
Hi all,

this is probably more than slightly off topic, but we (Impara) are
looking for beta testers for a Plopp based sculpture modeling tool for
SecondLife. Assuming that there are people actively using SecondLife :-)

Can't really imagine ;-), but for those who don't know yet, Plopp is a
3D painting tool for kids, based on the Teddy algorithm and written in
Squeak (http://planet-plopp.com).

People interested in testing the tool and especially giving feedback on
the exported results on Mac, Windows or Linux would need a SecondLife
account and the ability to upload objects.

Please reply to me off-list if you are interested.

Thanks and apologies for this off-topic, shameless self promotion :-)

Michael

As I mentioned to your post on the Beginners List, I think it's a great thing
that people post about their products on our mailing lists. Its wonderful to
see more and more products developed with Squeak!

The basic SL account is free. You can't own land with the free account,
but you can buy and sell stuff. Uploading a sculpty texture costs 10 L$
however, or roughly  $0.035US (this is meant to reduce the load on the
server, rather than generate profit for Linden Labs). YOU can purchase
Lindens Dollars in lots of 1,000 from within the SL browser if you
establish a credit card account with LL. This would allow you to upload
100 sculpty textures for roughly $3.50 US.

There is a very thriving SL artistic community, many of whom are sculpty
makers. Plopp should be an interesting addition to the tools they use.
